Tour description

Danube Bend – an excursion into Hungary's history. This is an unforgettable tour along the "Blue Danube" with stops in Esztergom, Visegrád and Szentendre.

Esztergom: It used to be the capital of Hungary and is still the centre of the Catholic Church. We visit the largest cathedral of Hungary (also burial place of famous cardinals, like Primate József Mindszenty). Afterwards, we drive across the river to Slovakia and enjoy the view over the Basilica.

Visegrád: After the Mongol invasion a new fortification was constructed here in the mid-13th century. The top of the hill offers a fascinating panorama on the Danube valley. After enjoying the view there is an opportunity to have lunch (not included in the price).

Szentendre: It is a small baroque city built on medieval ruins, located at the gate of the Danube Bend. The town is considered to be the Artists' Village or the Painters' Town. We walk around the historical centre and enjoy the cobblestoned narrow streets as well as the baroque houses. After the guided tour you can also visit some museums (for example the famous Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum or the Confectionery Museum with marzipan figures).

During summer (May-September) we return to Budapest by boat. The tour ends in the city centre (pier).

“Danube Bend Tour” – Tripadvisor Rating 5/5

This wasn’t just good, it was very very good and superb value for money as well.
Now I feel bad but I cannot remember the wonderful lady guides name. She was approaching middle age (I hope) had sort of dark blonde colour hair, wore specs, and was one of the best guides we have ever had on any tour anywhere, The fact that she had good taste and once owned a Trabant as indeed we had done is quite bye the bye! Zoltan our driver was a nice guy and an excellent driver.
I won’t go into great detail about the tour as it is on Cityrama’s website but it deliverers exactly as it promises which is rare these days. The restaurant where we stopped for lunch was simply excellent and it annoys the hell out of me that I cannot remember it’s name either.
There were no disappointments with this tour as it far exceeded our expectations by a long way. A truly memorable day indeed and thank you Zoltan, Trabbie fan guide and Cityrama for tour we will remember for many years to come. Brilliant! We did the tour on the 30th September 2015.

“Highly recommended!” – Tripadvisor Rating: 5/5

I took the Danube Bend tour. It is a tour for the whole day and we had a very nice driver/guide. During the whole tour we talked a lot and asked many things about Hungary and he was very polite to answer them all! A good guide is imho at least 50% of the success of any excursion. What i liked the most about the tour are the great panorama views of the Danube and Szentendre is also a very nice little town, deffinately worth a visit!

“Well-paced and personalised tour of Danube Bend” – Tripadvisor rating 5/5

We were picked up from our airbnb in the morning by Gyuri our guide for a Danube Bend tour. As we were the only two who signed up for the day we got a private tour. Gyuri was a great guide, very informative with fun facts, historical facts, architectural knowledge etc etc about Budapest and Hungary. He is very passionate and genuine about what he is doing. This tour was the best value for money and we got to see Esztergom.
