Tour description

Visit the beautiful Baroque Palace in Gödöllő. After only a 30-minute drive from Budapest we arrive to the former summer residence of Queen Elisabeth (Sisi) and Francis Joseph (Habsburg Emperor & Hungarian King 1867-1916). The interior visit of the Gödöllő Palace gives you a glimpse of times under the Austro-Hungarian Empire. You will become acquainted with the secrets of the private life, the hidden doors, rooms and lovers of the royal couple.

After the guided tour through the Gödöllő Palace you have the opportunity to have a coffee break and look around the souvenir shop. The tour ends in the city centre.

Maintenance work is scheduled to take place in the Palace from the beginning of January 2024 until the end of March 2024 (the end date may change). In this period there will be sections in the permanent exhibition (certain rooms) that will be closed for visitors.

“Great trip” – Tripadvisor rating: 5/5

We were a group of four and wanted to see something outside of Budapest, so we decided to take a guided bus-tour to Gödöllö – it was a good decision! So we’ve been picked up, went first to the main office and started then our tour. On our aproximately 45 minute trip the driver/guide already told us some interesting facts about the Gödöllö castle, Budapest and Hungary in general. When we arrived, we quickly strolled through the garden and entered then the castle. Our guidethrough the castle was our driver. As we walked through the rooms he explainef us in a funny way the function of the specific room and the things to look at. We then went to a horse riding show at the estate of world champions in horse-drawn carriage after we have been wecomed by some “palinka” and “pogacsa” – just delicious! After being invited to a ride on a carriage the show began and was pretty cool, showing mainly the old hungarian style of riding. Then we have been brought home. All in all a great half day trip, if You have seen everything in Budapest or if Your a royalist or just interested in castles!
